14-year-old amateur Alexis Thompson played well today during the first round of the 2009 US Women's Open. Ending the day with an even par, she is currently tied for 6th place with 5 other players including Anna Nordqvist. Na Yeon Choi of Korea is currently on the lead while Lorena Ochoa, Christie Kerr and Jean Reynolds are tied for 2nd. Defending Champion Inbee Park is 4 over par and is currently tied for 50th. Alexis Thompson has a very promising career ahead of her. She is predicted by many to be the up and coming star in women's golf. This girl definitely has talent. She won the 2008 US Girls' Junior Golf Championship, the Aldila Junior Classic and the Westfield Junior PGA Championship becoming the youngest winner in the history of the Junior PGA championship.
It would be really great if this talented young lady can contend on the weekend.
